AAI Senior Indoors 2018 (17th/18th Feb)

Mullingar was represented by Sarah Glennon, Rachel Glennon, Claire Fagan and Jamie Battle at the AAI Senior Indoor Championships at the National Indoor Arena in Abbottstown on the week-end of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th February. Sarah and Rachel were first into action on Saturday in the 3,000m race walk and put in strong performances to finish 5th and 6th respectively. Claire Fagan narrowly missed qualifying from the 1,500m heats but took satisfaction from finishing in a new PB of 4:43.26, a three second improvement on her previous best and will give her great confidence for the year ahead. On Sunday morning, Jamie Battle competed in his first National Senior Championship in the 3,000m and was rewarded with an excellent 6th place and a PB of 8:40.27. The race was a typical championship style affair with very tactical opening laps but Jamie still improved his personal best time by a margin of twelve seconds.
