Trim 10 Mile 2025 (2nd Feb)

Team and individual successes at Trim 10 Mile

Given the strong and increasing adult membership, among the 1,800 finishers who raced the Trim 10 Mile road race on Sunday afternoon 2nd February was a very squad of 40 athletes from Mullingar Harriers. The early morning drizzle cleared, resulting in good running conditions with cool weather, a gentle breeze and some brights spells of sunshine.  The route was unchanged from previous years, heading out from Trim along country roads before finishing back on the outskirts of the town.

Andy Nevin was our first athlete home in 5th place overall, finishing in 53:19, a great time on the challenging hilly course. Alan Crowley was the second Mullingar athlete home, finishing well under the coveted hour in 59:43. Enda O’Carolan (60:31), Griffin Kearney (60:54), Eddie Newman (winning his master category with 60:55) and Andy Boyhan (60:56) had worked well together during the race and they all finished well up the field of competitors.

Our ladies were lead home by Sinead Whitelaw in 4th place, finishing in 61:30. Ciara Foy was just behind her, finishing in 6th place while achieving a new best time of 61:55. With two ladies in the top 6, Mullingar Harriers were always in contention for the team prizes. Criona Reid ran 68:06 (third in her master category) and Aeilish McGovern finished in 69:10 to complete the ladies team and they finished a brilliant 2nd Club.

Enda Seery (64:09), James Cribbin (64:42), Darren Carroll (64:48) and Mick Fagan (66:17) were the next finishers for Mullingar, all putting in strong performances to finish well under 70 minutes. Mullingar Harrier’s athletes continued to run across the finish line, all putting in big efforts along the finish straight. These included Kieran Dodrill (70:28), Therese Glynn (71:34), John Long (71:16), Aisling Corcoran (71:52), Orla Gillespie (72:12), John McNamara (74:39), Joseph Curley (75:17), Niamh Doherty (75:23), Joe Doherty (75:23), Marie Louise Johnston (75:56), Shaun Mills (76:12), Laura Fitzpatrick (76:15), Grainne Feely (76:12), Mairtin Savage (77:14), Aaron Gallagher (78:06), Jane Creevy (79:18), Brendan Rice (79:15), Naomi Battle (79:48), Paul Ginnell (80:58), Eva McMorrow Byrne (81:31), Michael Purdue (82:05), Michelle O’Halloran (83:53), Leona Behan (84:45), Eamonn O’Reilly (86:17), Emer Savage (86:58) and Joanna Tyrell (90:32) [SW].
