Tom Brennan Memorial 5k 2025 (1st Jan)
The Tom Brennan Memorial 5k Road Race took place in the Phoenix Park on New Year’s Day. A well-established fixture on the road-racing calendar, organised by Liffey Valley AC, this year the host club were proud to be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Tom Brennan’s 1975 National Cross Country triumph, which took place in the founding year of Liffey Valley AC.
The race, which was sold out well in advance of Christmas, took place over a flat two lap circuit in the park and weather conditions were ideal, apart from some light gusty winds. Three Mullingar Harriers athletes competed in the field of 569 finishers. Jack Moran continued his recent excellent form with a very impressive run finishing in 2nd place in a time of 15:04, just holding off the third place finisher in a tight finish. Meanwhile Orlaith Flanagan also kept up her great running form of late, having a fine run in a very competitive women’s race, finishing in 8th place in a time of 19:23. Patrick Muldoon was our final representative and he too was pleased to finish strongly in a time of 20:34 in his second race of the Christmas season.
