World Masters Games 2017 (25th/26th Apr)

It’s only a month since Sean McMullin won two race walk silver medals at the World Masters Indoors in Daegu, South Korea, but straight afterwards he travelled to Auckland in New Zealand to prepare for the World Masters Games, looking for more success. Sean faced a tough competition schedule, the 1,500m race walk on Tuesday evening 25th April, followed by the 3,000m race walk early the following morning, Wednesday 26th April, however, Sean is tough and all the hard work put in at training came good as he took gold in both events.

Sean won the 1,500m walk in 8:20.06, just three seconds clear of Norman Frable (USA) with Thomas Kok (Malaysia) in third and won the 3,000m walk in 17:20.91, with Frable and Kok also in second and third, but this time Sean had a very comfortable twenty five second gap, so he was sure to have had time to savour the moment as he crossed the finish line to win his second World gold medal. Two World gold medals is a fantastic achievement and congratulations to Sean from everyone at the Club.
