Eileen Kenny & Jamie Battle to receive Awards

The Westmeath Examiner announced the final nominations for the Westmeath Examiner Sports Awards for 2018 on 2nd January, which included two Mullingar Harriers athletes. After winning the All-Ireland cross country title in her master category in February, Eileen Kenny capped off the year with a bronze medal in the 10k road race at the World Masters T&F Championships in Málaga, Spain, which earned her the September Award. For Jamie Battle, 2018 was a memorable breakthrough year when he finished third in the All-Ireland Junior cross country in November, which earned him automatic selection for the European cross county in the Netherlands in December where he finished just outside the top twenty, a brilliant performance in his debut at this level and earned him the November Award. Congratulations to Eileen and Jamie on their Awards, which will be presented at a Gala Function in the Mullingar Park Hotel on Friday evening 1st February.
