Trim 10 Mile 2017 (5th Feb)
The nearly 1,300 athletes that journeyed to Trim on Sunday 5th February for the third running of the Trim 10 Mile had to endure a calm dry but bitterly cold start to the day but once they warmed up, the day was perfect for running. For many from Mullingar Harriers this race provided a useful test of how their training is progressing, as many are planning to run a half marathon in March, for some it will be in Lisbon and for others it will be in Mullingar. Mullingar was out in force, with 36 completing the distance. Leading the Mullingar group home in 16th place was Mal McDonnell (56:41) and 3rd in his master age category, followed by Eddie Newman in 22nd place (57:58) to win his master category, just ahead of Patrick Muldoon (58:05), then Gerry Gavin (58:56), Kieran Nolan (60:35), John O’Reilly (60:43), Enda O’Carolan (61:31), Matt Glennon (61:33) third in his master category, Eoin Clarke (61:57), Alan Crowley (63:41), Philip Burke (65:39), Stephen Naughton (67:46), Ollie Gaffney (68:50), Paul Ginnell (69:14), Sean Liston (69:13), Robin Jackson (69:40), Joan Flynn (71:17), Enda Seery, Siobhan McCarthy (72:43), Tommy Conroy, Michelle O’Halloran (73:12), Doug Bates, Mervyn Kennedy, Bernard Groenewald, Jason McCabe, Suzanne Scanlan, Richard Ferris, Stephen Bell, Eamonn O’Reilly, Criona Reid, Michael O’Sullivan, Olivia Cronin, Marna Groenewald, Deirdre McHugh and Lucia Brady. In the team results, the Mullingar men finished 1st Club and there was a team prize for the Mullingar women too, so a very successful day out in Trim.
