Tribal Games, Galway 2019 (1st June)

Shane Fitzsimons recorded an excellent win in the Elite Mile Race at the Tribal Games in Co. Galway on Saturday 1st June, hosted by Castlegar Athletic Club. It was a high class field with athletes in the race who have competed for Ireland at senior International level and also three athletes currently on scholarship at American Universities.

In a tactical race, Shane waited patiently in the leading pack before producing an explosive turn of pace with 400m remaining to open up a wide margin between him and his rivals. This win comes a week after Shane ran 3:44 for 1,500m at the IFAM Meeting in Oordegem, Belgium and is further indication of the rapid progress he is making this season.
