Run For Ukraine (5th Mar)

The Sanctuary Runners in association with Athletics Ireland organised a global “Run For Ukraine” on Saturday 5th March with people taking part across the World. The Sanctuary Runners is an Irish-founded solidarity-through-sport initiative, which uses running, jogging and walking to bring asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and those in host communities together in solidarity, friendship and respect. Those taking part were asked to run, jog or walk together or alone, over any distance, wearing anything that is blue and yellow and to consider donating to the Irish Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal at redcross.ie. Mullingar Harriers was happy to play its part and on Saturday morning the adult members assembled at the club grounds for their normal Saturday morning run, but to coincide with the Run For Ukraine event, everyone wore blue and yellow. Well  done everyone, and in particular to Michelle Kavanagh for providing the eye-catching Ukraine flag.
