Midland Inter-County Juvenile T&F Match 2019 (17th May)

There are limited opportunities for our younger members to take part in competition but on Friday evening 17th May over 50 boys and girls from Mullingar Harriers aged 8 to 13 years competed at the annual Midland Inter-County Juvenile T&F Match between Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath in Tullamore Harriers Stadium. The weather was cool and wet at times but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of our youngsters that competed alongside athletes from Athlone IT AC and East Westmeath AC.

This is a very popular event and our young athletes certainly enjoyed it and lots of them visited the medal podium regularly throughout the evening, including Morgan Corcoran (600m u/13 gold and u/13 shot bronze), Emma Higgins (100m u/14 silver), Katie Kilmurray (80m u/12 silver), Orla Manning (600m u/13 bronze), Tianna O’Leary (600m u/12 silver), Alicia Ripley (u/14 long jump bronze and u/14 shot bronze), Josh Scahill (60m u/10 gold), Shane Canning (500m u/10 bronze), Cian Corcoran (600m u/12 silver and 80m u/12 bronze), Conor Corcoran (u/11 turbo javelin silver), Darren Corcoran (500m u/10 gold and 60m u/10 bronze), Callum Costello (800m u/14 gold and 100m u/14 silver), Kyle Faherty (80m u/13 gold), James Flynn (u/13 long jump gold), Cillian Galvin (300m u/9 gold and 60m u/9 bronze), Luke Greene (600m u/12 bronze), Conor Liston (600m u/13 gold and 80m u/13 silver), Oliver Lynch (600m u/11 silver), Matthew Molloy (600m u/12 gold), Luke O’Leary (600m u/13 bronze), Will Scahill (80m u/12 silver and u/12 long jump silver), Conor Sherwin (800m u/14 silver) and Jamie Wallace (600m u/13 silver and 80m u/13 bronze).

Mullingar athletes won a total of 32 medals, AIT athletes won 12 medals and East Westmeath athletes won 2 medals, so overall Westmeath fared very well in the Inter-County placings. Thanks to the parents and coaches that attended to ensure our youngsters enjoyed themselves.
