Kilbeggan 10 Mile 2022 (7th Aug)

It was great to see the Kilbeggan 10 Mile make a welcome return to the road race fixtures on Sunday morning 7th August and in warm sunny conditions, the race attracted nearly 200 finishers, among them a good number Mullingar Harriers, including many that were away or helping out at our own Mullingar 10 mile. The race started on the Moate Road in Kilbeggan at the junction of the Clara Road and proceeded straight into Horseleap village, where the runners took a left turn bringing the race down country roads towards Clara. Before Clara, the course turned left to bring the runners on the final nearly three mile straight back to the finish at Kilbeggan GAA grounds. This was a challenging course and while there were no big hills, there were numerous smaller challenging inclines including a steep climb over the M6 bridge at the 9 mile mark. James Keegan had an excellent run to finish eleventh in 56 minutes 49 seconds, followed in by Alan Crowley (58:48), Eoin Clarke (61:00), Kieran Nolan (63:07), James Cribbin (64:34) first in his master category, Tony Doran (64:36), Stephen Naughton (65:37) second in his master category, Aisling Corcoran (69:38) third in her master category, Michelle O’Halloran (1:16:35), Emer O’Hanlon (1:16:42) first in her master category and Avril Keane (1:22:15).
