Awa Fane helps Irish Junior relay team to Euro Qualification

Athletics Ireland fielded a Junior Women 4x100m relay team at the IFAM (International Flanders Athletic Meeting) in Oordegem, Belgium on Sunday 26th May, looking to achieve the qualification standard of 46.40 seconds for the European Junior T&F in Sweden in July. This was the first attempt this year to try for the standard. The Irish team was led off by our own Awa Fane and with great team effort and smooth baton passes, the team finished 3rd in their heat in 46.28 seconds, which is inside the “A” qualification standard for the European Juniors, so job done and congratulations to the Irish junior women team for achieving the standard at the first time of asking.
