Collinstown 5k and 10k 2017 (8th Jan)

The incredibly mild and calm unseasonable weather conditions on Sunday 8th January were absolutely perfect for running and a number of Club members made the short journey to Collinstown to take part in the Lough Lene Gaels 5k or 10k.

Staying with the shorter 5k, best of the Mullingar group of the 163 finishers was Andy Nevin, finishing second in 17:06, ahead of Tom McGrath third in 17:21 and first in his master age category, then James Keegan fourth (18:31), Alan Crowley (19:18), Catriona Kennedy (20:39), first junior woman, Eoin McGrath (23:46), second junior man and Ciara Smith (24:05), third junior woman. There was a smaller entry of 83 in the longer 10k where Timmy Murphy was very pleased with his finish time of 35:31 to place second, ahead of Eddie Newman third in 35:51 and first in his master age category, then Ian McCormack (36:30), Sean Liston and PJ Ballesty completing the Mullingar contingent. Well done to all for flying the flag for Mullingar in the Club colours.
