Clontarf 5 Mile & Half Marathon 2025 (5th July)
On a windy and wet morning on Saturday 5th July, the annual Clontarf 5 Mile & Half Marathon took place along the promenade and through part of the sand dunes in Clontarf. It was a very challenging course, especially on the out and back half marathon course. In the 5 Mile Race, among the 1,348 finishers, the sole Mullingar Harriers competitor was Joan Hickson and she was satisfied with her run, coming home in 38:55.
The Half Marathon had a huge field of over 3,000 competitors. Dara O’Shea worked his way through a crowded start and got into his rhythm after the first kilometre and was pleased to again cover the distance in under 90 minutes, finishing well up in his master category in 1:29:29. Mary Stuart continued her successful season and again took top place in her master category with a finishing time of 1:34:39. Marie Louise Johnston had a very steady run and while disappointed to miss a podium position in her master category, her fourth place finishing time of 1:44:10, was another good run for her. Lisa McEntee only joined the club in January and is taking in a few races to get experience of running and pacing. This was her second race in seven days and she was happy to post a time of 2:11:30 [MO’S].
